Flat-rate Internet access ‘from next month’
BT will launch a set-rate, or unmetered, Internet-access service for ISPs (Isps) and telecommunications operators the following month, the organization announced yesterday.
The BTnet SurfPort 24 service uses the Predetermined Fee Access To The Internet Call Organization (FRIACO) tariff, which supplies limitless, 24-hour use of ISPs and operators for any single fee every month. The service functions by collecting dial-up Internet traffic from local BT exchanges, and delivering it lower just one pipe towards the ISPs, Danny Sullivan, v . p . and services information providers for BT’s Internet group, BT Ignite stated.
BT Ignite will unveil the service geographically from The month of january 18, with national coverage offered by April.
The service is going to be open to ISPs along with other operators in a cost which is between ￡87 and ￡110 pounds per port, monthly, with respect to the period of contract, having a minimum of 1,500 ports, Sullivan stated.
It’s expected the new deal for ISPs will engender another wave of limitless Access to the internet tariffs for consumers.
